Police blotter: Multiple scam attempts reported

Wednesday

7:22 a.m. — A caller from the 1000 block of Sutton Way reported a transient in a sleeping bag behind a business, with beers cans strewn about.



9:13 a.m. — A caller from a business in the 600 block of Sutton Way reported a man cursing and yelling, claiming his dog was a service animal. The man was contacted and was irate and obviously anti-law enforcement. He was told the store did not want him on the premises.

10:19 a.m. — A caller from Nevada City Highway and Gates Place reported a man passed out and lying on a bus stop bench.




11:17 a.m. — A caller from the hospital reported a combative patient.

12:45 p.m. — A caller reported a possible check fraud.

1:08 p.m. — A caller from the 100 block of West McKnight Way reported a theft by an employee, who was cited and released.

1:15 p.m. — A woman from the 1000 block of Sutton Way reported someone tried to pick up her prescription without permission.

2:37 p.m. — A caller from the 100 block of West McKnight Way reported a shoplifter; a juvenile was arrested.

3:17 p.m. — A caller from the 100 block of Colfax Avenue reported a transient camp.

3:37 p.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Colfax Avenue reported a man shoplifted property, but returned it when confronted.

5:17 p.m. — A caller from South Church and Neal streets reported people looking into vehicles; they could not be located.

3:05 a.m. — A caller from the hospital reported an assault victim.

8:26 a.m. — A caller from the 13000 block of Lake Wildwood Drive reported the theft of a check.

10:22 a.m. — A caller from the 12000 block of Somerset Drive reported a fraud.

11:04 a.m. — A caller from the 14000 block of Sky Pines Drive reported mail theft.

2:08 p.m. — A caller from the 12000 block of Polaris Drive reported a possible computer fraud scheme.

2:45 p.m. — A man from the 16000 block of Alexandra Way reported a fraudulent scam call from someone trying to gain access to his computer.

4:06 p.m. — A man from the 14000 block of Edgewood Drive reported someone trying to scam an elderly woman.

4:21 p.m. — A woman from the 11000 block of Norager Way reported scam calls.

4:33 p.m. — A caller from the Englebright area reported a scam call from someone posing as a Microsoft employee.

4:38 p.m. — A man from Ryans Ranch Road reported people with guns on his property. A man was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.

5:39 p.m. — A caller reported a 14-year-old boy was beaten up at Nevada Union High School and sought treatment at the hospital.

6:25 p.m. — A caller from Auburn and Hidden Valley roads reported a physical fight involving a man and a woman. She said it was verbal only and no injuries were observed.

Thursday

5:08 a.m. — A caller from Highway 20 and Gold Flat Road reported hitting a bear, which had left the scene.

8:35 a.m. — A caller from the 400 block of Hollow Way reported the gas line had been cut on a work truck.

1:40 p.m. — A caller from the 300 block of Spring Street reported the theft of a laptop from a vehicle.
