Police blotter: Karate moves draw attention

Grass Valley Police Department

Sunday

7:14 a.m. — A caller from Penstock Drive and Brighton Street reported a vehicle and stop sign wrapped in plastic wrap; they could not be located.



12:01 p.m. — A caller from Ventana Sierra Drive reported numerous vehicles spinning doughnuts; nothing was located.

12:19 p.m. — caller from Highway 49 and West McKnight Way reported an elderly woman with a walker on the highway; she could not be located.




7:01 p.m. — A caller from the 2000 block of Nevada City Highway reported a man shoplifted items.

7:09 p.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Sutton Way reported a physical fight involving a man and a woman; they were just yelling across the parking lot about where to meet.

7:17 p.m. — A woman from Sutton Way reported transients. She then said she didn’t see anything suspicious, just “Grass Valley people,” and said she hated the people in this town. She seemed to have been drinking.

8:13 p.m. — A caller from the 400 block of Central Avenue reported 10 to 15 people in a fight. A person was located who was uncooperative. The park was closed and everyone was asked to leave.

9:07 p.m. — A caller from the 300 block of Mill Street reported a man who said he had fought two cops today and had shaved his head to avoid being recognized. He was gone when an officer arrived.

9:40 p.m. — A caller from the 100 block of Neal Street reported a person stole two bottles of alcohol and fled. A man was located and arrested on suspicion of violating post-release community supervision. Another man was arrested on suspicion of violating probation.

10:01 p.m. — A caller from the 300 block of Railroad Avenue reported a fight with one person needing medical attention.

Monday

12:36 a.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Washington Street reported loud music. A woman was playing loud music to spite an upstairs neighbor who spit on her porch and plays loud music. She agreed to turn it down.

Sunday

8:02 a.m. — A caller from Alta Street and Alta Hill Mine Road reported three pit bulls fighting each other with a woman trying to pull them apart. She was injured, but did not need treatment.

10:31 a.m. — A caller from the 14000 block of Rodeo Way reported a neighbor shooting with rounds landing on the caller’s property.

2:42 p.m. — A man from the 12000 block of Hutto Road reported a man assaulted him. He wanted NCSO to come out and cut up all his marijuana plants.

2:47 p.m. — A woman from the 22000 block of Pleasant Valley Road reported the neighbor’s cows continue to trespass on her property, defecating and making a large mess.

2:50 p.m. — A man from the 14000 block of Rough and Ready Highway reported being struck in the face; he did not need medical attention.

4:36 p.m. — A caller from Washington and Maybert roads reported an assault.

5:33 p.m. — A caller reported a person stuck on a boat at Rollins Lake.

9:12 p.m. — A caller from the 19000 block of Long Valley Road reported a woman screaming for help for 10 minutes. No one was located.

9:52 p.m. — A woman from the 13000 block of Madrone Forest Drive reported a person beat her dog with a shovel because it was attacking another dog.

9:53 p.m. — A caller from the 10000 block of Golden Avenue reported a neighbor shot at a cat.

10:49 p.m. — A caller from Brunswick Road and West Olympia Drive reported a shirtless man doing karate near Taco Bell. He was arrested on suspicion of violating probation.

Monday

6:01 a.m. — A caller from Highway 49 and Brewer Road reported a truck with one dog in the bed and two on the ground that appeared to have fallen out and are injured. There was a bear carcass in the back of the truck.

10:28 a.m. — A caller from the 700 block of Zion Street reported a man who appeared to have moved in behind a business with a lawn chair and a dog. He could not be located.

3:37 p.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Commercial Street reported a shoplifted wallet.

5:13 p.m. — A caller from the 700 block of Zion Street reported a man yelling and singing loudly and dancing in the road.

Saturday

1:57 a.m. — A caller from the 400 block of Broad Street reported someone slashed a vehicle’s tires.

2:30 a.m. — A caller from the 400 block of Nimrod Street reported a loud party, which could not be located.

10:48 a.m. — A caller from Commercial Street reported a man looking in vehicles; he could not be located.

5:45 p.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Broad Street reported a phone scam.

Sunday

12:10 a.m. — A caller from Commercial Street reported vandalism.

1:54 a.m. — A caller from the 200 block of Broad Street reported eight to 10 people causing problems, with a woman trying to urinate in a stairwell. They were gone when officers arrived.

2:48 a.m. — A caller from the 400 block of Railroad Avenue reported people in a room with a boombox, being loud.

4 a.m. — A caller from Commercial and North Pine streets reported a screaming man, who was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public.
