Police blotter: July 7, 2008
12:25 p.m. – A woman from the 200 block of Sutton Way reported someone had stolen her son’s skateboard. A report was taken for petty theft.
9:39 p.m. – A caller from Memorial Park reported some people were lighting fireworks there. According to the caller, the fireworks were igniting sparks and a man was stomping them out. Officers cited a 22-year-old man and an 18-year-old man for lighting fireworks.
11:10 p.m. – A caller from the 600 block of Freeman Lane reported people shooting off multiple fireworks in a parking lot. Officers contacted the people and confiscated the fireworks.
11:39 p.m. – A caller from Whispering Pines Lane reported illegal fireworks.
12:01 p.m. – A woman from the 200 block of Depot Street reported her boyfriend was involved in a physical altercation with his mother and stepfather. The mother then came to the phone and said her son was on parole and he was beating up his girlfriend’s car. Officers arrested the 19-year-old man on suspicion of being drunk in public and for suspension of parole.
2:45 a.m. – Officers arrested a 22-year-old man on the 200 block of Race Street on suspicion of violating parole and booked him into Wayne Brown Correctional Center.
9:25 a.m. – A man from the 700 block of West Main Street reported strange comments from his neighbor, who came uninvited to his house. The man was given information on how to get a restraining order.
1:40 p.m. – Officers arrested a 21-year-old man on an outstanding warrant at the entrance to southbound Highway 49 at Brunswick Road and booked him into Nevada County jail.
6:13 p.m. – Officers arrested a 45-year-old man at the intersection of Ridge Road and Slate Creek Road on the suspicion of drunken driving and booked him into jail.
6:59 p.m. – A caller from the 400 block of Chapel Street reported a bicyclist had run into the caller’s fence and was injured. The person was being transported to the hospital.
8:22 p.m. – Officers arrested a 29-year-old man on Brentwood Drive on a local warrant and booked him into jail.
10:30 p.m. – Officers arrested a 67-year-old man at the intersection of Brunswick Road and Sutton Way on suspicion of drunken driving and booked him into jail.
11:28 p.m. – Officers cited and released a 20-year-old man at the intersection of Empire Street and Highway 49 for driving without a license.
2:03 a.m. – Officers arrested a 22-year-old man on Highway 49 south of McKnight Way on an out-of-state warrant.
2:08 a.m. – Officers arrested a 27-year-old woman at the intersection of McKnight Way and Highway 49 on an out-of-county warrant. They also arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of drunken driving and booked both of them into jail.
2:23 a.m. – A caller from North Church Street reported two groups of people shouting threats at each other. Officers contacted the parties involved and took a report for armed robbery and assault on a police officer.
5:48 p.m. – A caller from Highway 49 reported two men assaulting a woman on the side of the road. One of the men was bald and had no shirt on, the caller said.
10:20 p.m. – A caller from the 13000 block of Rattlesnake Road reported fireworks in the area.
10:24 p.m. – A caller from the 18000 block of Shasta Dam Way reported fireworks in the area.
10:27 p.m. – A caller from the 14000 block of Nimbus Road reported fireworks in the area.
4:41 a.m. – A woman called from the 19000 block of Cobblers Way saying her son is threatening to kill her if she calls the police.
10:41 a.m. – A caller from the 10000 block of Vagabond Lane reported an altercation with her juvenile son. The caller said the juvenile was breaking the windows of the residence.
11:42 p.m. – A caller reported a car had gone off the roadway at the intersection of Gethsemane Street and Pine Street. While the caller was on the phone, the driver of the car tried to reposition the car and hit another vehicle in the process. Officers arrested the 26-year-old driver on the suspicion of driving on a suspended license, violating probation and drunken driving and booked him into jail.
The Grass Valley Fire Department responded to 58 calls for service between June 26 and July 1, including those responded to as part of its joint operational relationship with Nevada County Consolidated Fire District and Nevada City Fire Department. The following is a sample of those calls:
9:10 a.m. June 29 – GVFD responded after a single vehicle struck a handrail but missed a building on South Auburn Street. A single occupant was treated for back pain and transported to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.
7:03 p.m. June 29 – GVFD responded to a vehicle rollover on McCourtney Road near Mill Street. Responders found the vehicle upside down, and the occupants had minor injuries.
1:56 p.m. June 30 – GVFD responded to an accident at the intersection of McCourtney Road and Highway 20. Responders found two vehicles, one on its side and another off the road. Occupants of both vehicles had minor injuries.
