Police blotter: Aug. 26, 2008
Grass Valley Police Department
9:59 a.m. – A caller from the 300 block of French Avenue reported someone left a dead cat in a bar at the top of their driveway. Animal control was notified.
10:13 a.m. – A caller from the 200 block of North Church Street reported a neighbor had about one dozen marijuana plants growing in pots.
10:37 a.m. – A caller from a business on East Main Street wanted police to stand by while he got his dog back from an ex-girlfriend.
10:59 a.m. – A two-car wreck at South Auburn and Neal streets produced no injures.
11:50 a.m. – A caller lost an iPod at Hennessy School.
1:52 p.m. – A caller reported a dog locked in a car on the 100 block of East Main Street was under duress because of the heat. A small crowd gathered at the scene and the woman allegedly was knocked to the ground by the dog owner. When officers got to the scene, no one wanted to press charges and they took an informational report.
8:50 p.m. – A caller from a business on South Auburn Street reported a woman got out of a van and started kicking another vehicle on the street. Responding officers found no damage to the vehicle.
9:59 p.m. -A caller from the 700 block of Taylorville Road reported vandalism to their vehicle.
7:17 a.m. – A found wallet was returned at the police station.
7:41 a.m. – A caller reported a reckless driver on McKnight Way and Highway 49. The driver allegedly almost hit a pedestrian and was tailgating the caller.
7:59 a.m. – A caller reported the theft of CDs from an unlocked vehicle on the 400 block of Bennett Street.
8:44 a.m. – A caller from the 100 block of East McKnight Way reported vandalism to their vehicle.
9:03 a.m. – A trespasser was reported at a home on the 100 block of East Empire Street. Responding officers separated all parties at the scene and advised the caller about the eviction and restraining order process.
9:38 a.m. – A caller reported items stolen overnight from an unlocked vehicle on Henderson Street.
10:25 a.m. – A caller reported finding two suitcases and three garbage bags full of clothes on the 200 block of Sutton Way.
10:54 a.m. – A man called from Mill Street saying he found an item behind his vehicle that was designed to pop his tire, so he threw it away.
12:43 p.m. – A vehicle was repossessed on the 10000 block of Greenwood Road.
12:52 p.m. – A young woman allegedly assaulted an elderly woman in a store on the 100 block of Neal Street. The victim told officers it was an ongoing issue and she didn’t want authorities involved. Officers were expected to do a follow-up report with the victim.
Nevada County Sheriff’s Office
10:16 a.m. – A man from the 16000 block of Curtis Court reported theft of money from his wallet that was left in his truck. The man said the truck was parked in front of his residence.
12:22 p.m. – A woman from the 11000 block of Kasza Way reported that her adult son was evicted a month ago but had not left as yet. She said she got into a verbal altercation with him and hit him with a magazine. The woman said she had the eviction paperwork. The son subsequently gathered his belongings and was admonished by officers that he’d be arrested for trespassing if he returned to the property without his parents’ consent.
1:43 p.m. – A caller from the 17000 block of Lightfoot Way reported neighbors riding dirt bikes. The caller said the neighbors were on their own property.
4:29 p.m. – A caller from the intersection of Dog Bar Road and Wheeler Acres Road reported a male driver who just punched a female passenger. The caller said the vehicle pulled over and the woman was seen crying holding her ear.
5:51 p.m. – A woman from Highway 20 reported that an unknown object flew in through the window and hit her on the left cheek while she was driving.
6:46 p.m. – A woman called from the 14000 block of Oak Leaf Lane reported that her 13-year-old daughter was causing a disturbance at her residence. She said her daughter had assaulted her in the past.
11:24 p.m. – A caller from the 11000 block of Pleasant Valley Road reported hearing a man and a woman fight. The woman was heard screaming, the caller said.
12:51 a.m. – A caller from the 13000 block of Ranchero Way reported a fire. The Higgins Area Fire Protection District and Calfire responded to the call and found a travel trailer was on fire from an unknown cause. The trailer was destroyed, but no one was hurt, according to the fire department.
12:56 a.m. – A man from the 10000 block of Park Avenue reported a fire in the woods behind his residence. The Nevada County Consolidated Fire District, the Nevada City Fire Department and Calfire responded to the call and found a small spot of vegetation on fire from an undetermined cause. The fire was promptly extinguished.

9:25 a.m. – A caller from a business on the 300 block of Broad Street reported the theft of purse that occurred Friday.
1:27 a.m. – A caller from the 100 block of Boulder Street reported smelling smoke in the air.
