Police blotter: Aug. 21, 2008

Grass Valley Police Department

Tuesday

10:28 a.m. – A caller reported a man in a straw hat with a long beard appeared to smoking marijuana behind the city library.



12:56 p.m. – A caller from a business on Sutton Way reported three men were acting suspiciously around an ATM. The men then got into a car and drove away.

3:25 p.m. – A caller requested extra patrol for a continuous problem of people running the stop sign during the day at Walsh and Carpenter streets.




3:46 p.m. – A vehicle was repossessed on the 300 block of Vistamont Drive.

3:58 p.m. – A two-car crash at Ridge and Slate Creek roads produced no major injuries but some young passengers were taken by ambulance to the emergency room at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital for precaution.

4:03 p.m. – A caller advised a reckless driver had just run a stop sign on South School Street. The information was given to an officer for follow-up.

5:16 p.m. – At a parking lot on Nevada City Highway officers arrested a woman and booked her at the Nevada County jail on suspicion of burglary, driving while suspended or revoked and procuring a prescription by fraud.

6:44 p.m. – A business on the 100 block of Neal Street reported a theft of a bottle of liquor. A man and a woman were found on a nearby parking lot, arrested and booked into the Nevada County Jail on suspicion of shoplifting.

7:43 p.m. – A caller reported the theft of two bags of recyclables on South Auburn Street.

7:57 p.m. – A caller on the 200 block of Church Street reported a man continues to urinate on the wall of a nearby church. Responding officers could not find the man but contacted church officials who told them they did not want anyone arrested for trespassing or sleeping on their property.

8:07 p.m. – A caller reported a woman employee in a business on Brunswick Road threatened him when he was returning a battery. The man wanted a log entry only.

9:32 p.m. – A loud bang was heard on Second Street by a caller who heard a man yelling “Oh, my head!” and a woman screaming for him to get out. Responding officers found the scene had calmed and the man and woman were going to bed for the night.

Wednesday

4:45 p.m. – A caller from the 300 block of Mill Street reported she had left her residence because a man was there that she wanted removed. Responding officers found the man had left.

8:53 a.m. – A caller from the 200 block of Mill Street reported a husband threatened to assault her in front of their children. Responding officers found the caller moving out and advised her of the restraining order process.

11:31 a.m. – A caller reported three juveniles were sharing a pipe while walking along Empire Street.

12:36 p.m. – A caller reported vandalism to their apartment on the 300 block of Mill Street. Officers took a report.

Nevada County Sheriff’s Office

Tuesday

8:34 a.m. – A woman from the 10000 block of West Hill Road reported she was walking to a neighbor’s house when her next-door neighbor – against whom she has a restraining order – yelled at her and taunted her.

9:49 a.m. – A caller from the 23000 block of McCourtney Road reported some family members have stolen items from the residence of her deceased aunt.

10:29 a.m. – A caller from the 13000 block of Golden Eagle Way reported vandalism to a vehicle.

12:01 p.m. – A man from the 12000 block of Frosty Lane reported he was in a traffic accident half an hour ago and was suffering from neck pain. The call was transferred to Calfire.

2:15 p.m. – A caller from the 21000 block of Highway 20 reported a burglary at a residence. The caller also requested medical assistance for a man at the location.

2:40 p.m. – A caller from the 22000 block of Big Oak Drive reported theft of some construction tools and miscellaneous items from the caller’s property.

2:56 p.m. – A woman from the 11000 block of McCourtney Road reported someone keyed her vehicle.

4:56 p.m. – A caller from Gas Canyon Road reported a number of juveniles riding bikes and causing a disturbance.

5:11 p.m. – A caller from the 10000 block of Comerate Road reported vandalism to the caller’s house.

6:42 p.m. – A woman from the 13000 block of China Court reported her son’s ex-girlfriend was at her residence and was causing a disturbance. She said the woman was sitting in her car just above her driveway. Officers mediated the situation and told the girlfriend to not return to the property.

9:48 p.m. – A woman from the 10000 block of Broken Oak Court reported her husband was on the scene, drunk and belligerent. She said she was a caregiver at the address and her husband couldn’t be there.

10:00 p.m. – A woman from the 17000 block of Aileen Way reported receiving threatening calls from her boyfriend’s stolen cell phone.

Wednesday

12:32 a.m. – A man from the 10000 block of Mackinack Court reported that a woman was suicidal. The woman said she was not, and complained of being threatened by the man.

Tuesday

10:13 a.m. – A caller from the 100 block of Pine Street reported receiving threatening voicemails from a man.

2:08 p.m. – A man from the 300 block of Clay Street reported two separate thefts. He said someone stole a box of books from his porch a month ago. Last week, four solar yard lights were stolen, he added.
