Police blotter: Aug. 19, 2008

Grass Valley Police Department


11:33 a.m. – A traffic stop on the 100 block of Harris Street resulted in a woman being arrested and booked at the Nevada County jail on suspicion of driving while suspended, possessing methamphetamine and possessing drug paraphernalia. Her car was impounded and towed.

12:08 p.m. – Emergency medical personnel helped a man at the corner of East Main Street and Presley Way who tipped over in his wheelchair and was trapped underneath it.

12:36 p.m. – Officers assisted a couple who were locked in a business parking lot on Railroad Avenue.

12:47 p.m. – A caller from the 100 block of Richardson Street reported a suspect in the burglary of his home was back in the home, and he wanted police to take the man’s fingerprints. Responding officers contacted the alleged burglar, cited and released him for grand theft and possession of stolen property.

3:35 p.m. – A caller from the 300 block of Mill Street reported a sewer smell backing up into the house. The public works department was advised.

5:34 p.m. – A caller on South Auburn Street heard a woman screaming. Officers were unable to find her.

5:55 p.m. – A caller from Sri Lanka reported he lost his passport here.

6:04 p.m. – A bloody man was reported sitting on the sidewalk at Eureka and East Main streets. He was gone when officers arrived.

6:31 p.m. – A caller from the 200 block of Joerschke Drive reported her mother just assaulted her boyfriend and left, saying she was coming back with a gun. Officers arrived and took a report for battery and trespassing.

7:25 p.m. – A caller from the 600 block of Le Duc Street reported a neighbor was yelling, screaming and breaking things. Responding officers found a man who was cooking who said he became angry and was throwing pans.

7:41 p.m. – A caller reported a duck that couldn’t fly was on a parking lot on the 100 block of Neal Street.

9:34 p.m. – A person in the lobby of the police department reported she was receiving threats. An officer took a report for criminal threats.

9:47 p.m. – A caller from the 300 block of Northstar Place reported that while they were away, someone came in their front door with a key and exited by the back door, which was left wide open.


12:14 a.m. – A caller from the 300 block of Northstar Place reported loud neighbors out on their deck.

7:48 a.m. – A caller said a cat was hit by a car at the corner of Ruby Ledge Court and Morgan Ranch Drive and the owners were hysterical. The owner then called police and said they were taking the cat for medical treatment.

8:39 a.m. – A caller from the 500 block of Fawcett Street reported the theft of water from his home. Responding officers took a report for petty theft and vandalism.

10:47 a.m. – A caller from the 100 block of Rockwood Drive reported she was getting harassing phone calls.

11:57 a.m. – A caller from the 200 block of Elysian Place reported she feared her identity might be stolen because someone talked her out of her Medicare information over the phone and she realized they weren’t from Medicare.

12:31 p.m. – A caller said he purchased a vehicle from a business that was never transferred to his name and wanted an officer to explain to him what to do.

Nevada County Sheriff’s Office


9:16 a.m. – A woman from the 13000 block of Torrey Pines Drive reported that her 2-year-old daughter returned after visiting her father, with a cigarette burn on her cheek. The woman said she believed the burn was sustained while her daughter was with her father, but the daughter didn’t need medical attention.

10:06 a.m. – A caller from the 12000 block of Shady Creek Drive reported theft of ladders and a water heater from the their residence.

10:48 a.m. – A caller from the 10000 block of Forest Springs Drive reported theft of cash from the caller’s dresser. The caller suspected the person who was taking care of the caller’s dog while the caller was in Hawaii.

3:03 p.m. – A woman from the 18000 block of Foxtail Drive reported that her ex-husband was calling friends and threatening to beat her up.

3:35 p.m. – A man from the 17000 block of Penn Valley Drive reported that his girlfriend’s ex-husband was at his house trying to load a vehicle onto a flatbed truck. The man said the vehicle was registered under the names of his girlfriend and her ex-husband.

5:47 p.m. – A man from the 10000 block of Ridge Road reported that one of his foster brothers damaged his vehicle with rocks and a wooden post.

9:36 p.m. – A woman from the 12000 block of Rough and Ready Highway reported a person outside her mobile home yelling and disturbing the neighbors.


1:18 a.m. – A caller from the 12000 block of Crescent Drive reported a physical altercation between a man and two women.

3:43 a.m. – A caller from the 14000 block of Bear Claw Court reported a bear at the residence.

Nevada City Police Department


1:29 p.m. – A caller from the intersection of Broad Street and Bennett Street reported that a two-door silver vehicle had rolled downhill onto the sidewalk and was blocking the roadway.

5:45 p.m. – A caller from a business on the 200 block of Broad Street reported a woman in a wheelchair was “bathing” herself and acting suspiciously.
