A caller from the 14000 block of Liquidamber Lane north of Greenhorn Road reported at 11:54 a.m. that a family member bought a vehicle on eBay but the vehicle didn’t work.

John C. Soulia, 30, of Smartville was booked into Wayne Brown Correctional Facility on suspicion of resisting arrest and a warrant for assault with a deadly weapon on an officer. His bail is $40,750.

After a brief foot chase at Sierra Nevada Memoria Hospital, where Soulia was visiting someone, officers arrested him.

The warrant stemmed from a July 23 incident, according to Capt. Greg Hart. Soulia allegedly rammed his vehicle into a squad car near Melody Road west of Penn Valley after a pursuit that started in Grass Valley on westbound Highway 20.

A resident on the 600 block of East Broad Street called at 1:59 a.m. for help with removing a bat from her bedroom. An officer arrived and gave her advice on how to remove the bat, according to a dispatch log.
