A juvenile allegedly stole about $500 of auto shop tools from a fenced area at Bear River High School between 11:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. Saturday, took them to a friend at Lake of the Pines who did not want them, the Sheriff’s Office reports. A Placer County deputy sheriff recovered the items from the juvenile and returned them to the school Sunday night, the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office said. No arrest has been made.

An attempted burglary was reported at Express Mart on Alta Street at 5:26 a.m. A big rock was thrown through a glass door, shattering the glass, a clerk said. The individual left and nothing was taken, she also said. No arrest has been made.
