Dennis A. Ford, 52, of Grass Valley was booked at 2:05 a.m. on suspicion of burglary, receiving stolen property and arson. He was held without bail at Wayne Brown Correctional Facility, according to a booking sheet.

Ford is accused of entering a woman’s Cedar Ridge-area house near Rattlesnake Road, burning bills and books in her wood stove and stealing numerous items, including a cordless phone, computer, photos and night gowns, Sheriff’s Lt. Tom Carrington said. Estimated cost of the items was $695.

Interviewed later, Ford claimed the woman, a Nevada County correctional officer, owed him money, Carrington said, adding Ford had been a renter at the residence.
