Nevada County Sheriff’s Office


— A State Parks worker requested a deputy’s assistance at 8:55 a.m. in serving an eviction notice at a mining claim near Hagerty Ranch Road southwest of Graniteville.

— A juvenile at Silver Springs High School was cited at 10:48 a.m. with marijuana possession.

— A caller reported at 10:29 a.m. that someone was shooting squirrels near Gold Hill Drive near Empire Mine State Historic Park, and bullets had flown near the caller’s house. It turned out the suspect was legally shooting a BB gun.


— A juvenile gave another juvenile prescription drugs at Lyman Gilmore School, a caller reported at 9:01 p.m.

— A juvenile sprayed another juvenile with pepper spray at Nevada Union High School and fled in a car, a caller reported at 6:51 p.m.

Grass Valley Police Department


— A case of financial elder abuse was reported at 12:10 p.m. by a worker at Bank of America.

— A house on the 500 block of Whiting Street was broken into in the past week, a caller reported at 12:58 a.m.
