Police blotter

Grass Valley Police Department

Marty D. Gibbs, 39, of Grass Valley, was arrested at about 2:30 p.m. at Raley’s on suspicion of forgery, possession of forged notes, burglary and violating parole, according to police. He’s being held at Wayne Brown Correctional Facility without bail.

Gibbs allegedly tried to return merchandise purchased with forged checks and became hostile until officers arrived, Sgt. Mike Hooker said. Officers later searched Gibbs’ Pleasant Street home and found a check ledger showing 79 forged checks and more than $2,000 in merchandise, including compact disc players, skateboard equipment and women’s clothing, Hooker said.

Nevada County Sheriff’s Office

A caller on the 10000 block of Sierra Drive, north of Ridge Road, reported at 7:32 p.m. arriving home to find money scattered all over the house. The caller later said it must have been a prank.
