Police blotter 05/15/08
Grass Valley Police Department
3:26 p.m. – A woman reported that, while she was being arrested, items were stolen from her purse on the 300 block of East Main Street. Police took a report for theft.
4:01 p.m. – A woman went to the police station to report she received a fraudulent check. The check was supposed to be prize winnings. When she went to cash the check, the bank advised the check was not good. An officer would destroy the check and talk to the woman about mail and Internet fraud.
9:21 p.m. – A caller from the 100 block of South Auburn Street reported a man was dragging a screaming woman by her head. Several people at a convenience store were leaving to help the woman. Police arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of violating probation. Police also arrested a 24-year-old woman on suspicion of violating probation and writing bad checks in connection to a previous incident.
2:08 a.m. – A caller from a store on the 1000 block of Sutton Way reported a man was outside the store taunting the caller. The caller wanted an officer to tell the man to move along.

9:12 a.m. – A caller from the 12000 block of Loma Rica Drive reported items were stolen sometime over the weekend from a work van and another vehicle in a parking lot. A fire extinguisher and a first aid kit were stolen.
11:12 a.m. – A caller from the 16000 block of Cooper Road reported theft of money and checks. A deputy took a report for grand theft.
11:51 a.m. – A woman from the 10000 block of Rough and Ready Highway reported a person had a knife on campus. The caller had it with her. A deputy took a report.
2:30 p.m. – A caller from Bowman Road reported a welder was taken. A deputy took a report.
6:04 p.m. – A caller from the 10000 block of Cedar Song Road reported several unlocked vehicles were burglarized.
Nevada City Police Department
5:17 p.m. – A caller from the 400 block of Nimrod Street reported a vehicle parked in the Pioneer Park parking lot by the tennis courts was vandalized. The windows were broken and the car was scratched. An officer took a report.
6:37 p.m. – A caller from the 200 block of Commercial Street reported several men appeared to be beating up a woman in front of a bar. Police arrested a person.
11:46 p.m. – A caller reported people were lighting batons on fire in the Commercial Street parking lot. Police advised people not to light things on fire.
11:56 p.m. – A caller reported people were still lighting things on fire. Police stood by as the people gathered their things and left the area.
