The Penn Valley Area Chamber of Commerce is holding its third Holiday Lights in the Park event, according to a release.

From 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the evening’s of Dec. 15-16, everyone is invited to drive through Western Gateway Park in Penn Valley to see holiday light displays created by community members and businesses.

The chamber is signing up businesses, groups and individuals to reserve their spot. Displays can be anything illuminated that is outdoor rated, from pre-purchased items, to homemade.

In the past, groups have even temporarily pulled decorations out of their own yard for a few days to share with others. Each participant can also create a sign identifying themselves for People’s Choice and Best Of voting. Set up is on the first day.

This year, many participants will be able to register and use generator power for free, compliments of the event’s major sponsors. Gold Sponsors are Plaza Tire and Auto Service, Penn Valley Mini Storage, Penn Valley True Value Hardware, and Wildflower Nursery and Gift Shoppe, and the Rotary Club of Penn Valley. Chamber members and nonprofits will be eligible for free use of power.

In addition, the chamber will host a drop off location for the Interfaith Food Ministry, which is in need of non-perishable foods for families in our area.
