Paving paradise

The chorus in the Joni Mitchell song “The Big Yellow Taxi” is, “They Paved Paradise and Put in a Parking Lot.”

I can see that’s what many very large commercial real estate companies are doing to Grass Valley.

It’s very unfortunate, and I’m very sorry that businesses are closing because of the economy, leaving buildings and offices empty. These empty spaces could be filled with new businesses without new offices being built on tree-filled land.

Is the slow growth initiative still active? It doesn’t seem so. The bumper sticker that states “Don’t Roseville Grass Valley” is very true.
