Partners in English Language Learning celebrates 30 years of service

This year marks 30 years that Partners in English Language Learning has been offering free one-on-one ESL tutoring to adults in Nevada County. Its mission is to help English language learners become thriving members of the community by offering one-on-one English tutoring and building bridges that foster cross-cultural respect, understanding, and friendship.

PiELL will be conducting a two-day training in September. PiELL Instructors train volunteers to tutor English to adults in Western Nevada County who want to learn English or work on their English skills.

Tutors do not need to have a teaching background, and PiELL does not require them to be bilingual.

In recent years, PiELL has had more than 80 adult learners per year take advantage of the program; each individually taught by one of 65 to 75 volunteer tutors. If you would like to volunteer, call for more information on the upcoming two-day training, which will take place on Sept. 12 and 19.

For information, call Donna at 530-265-2116 or at admin@piell.org.
