Park Ranger Trent no longer at Condon Park

Ranger Trent was the only ranger for the Grass Valley Parks Department.

We met him through the bocce courts located at Condon Park and when he came to the Gold Country Italian-American Club to reassure us of his presence there and of our safety at the courts. This was very important to us, as we are all senior citizens and felt at times threatened by loud and rambunctious teenagers in the park.

We now do not feel that assurance, and this is troubling.

Ranger Trent always checked on us when we had a game going. His termination was said to be cost cutting, a fiscal necessity by the city government.

I do not believe the salary of a single, very productive employee who also worked with the teenagers of the area solved any fiscal problems. This smells of politics of the worst kind, and I would appreciate a response from the Parks Department via Letters to the Editor so that we may all know your response.
