No story on Dems’ march

On Sunday, Sept. 12, I proudly joined with 76 other Democrats who marched down Broad Street in the Constitution Day parade carrying signs proclaiming landmark accomplishments of this and previous Democratic administrations’ achievements.

These include Social Security, Medicare, the GI bill, unemployment compensation, the recent nuclear arms treaty, end of termination of health insurance due to illness, hate crimes prevention act, civil rights act, women’s right to vote, child labor laws, improved veteran’s benefits, equal pay for women, no more denial of health insurance due to pre-existing conditions, small business tax credits, closed the “doughnut hole,” credit card reform, raised minimum wage, wall street reform, civil rights act, stem cell research, head start, eight hour work day and many, many other achievements.

This was a local story about local people. I’m disappointed a story about us wasn’t reported in The Union, yet the Tea Party’s event which occurred in Sacramento was reported. In that story I read the words “get back to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.” We Democrats have always and will continue to uphold our precious Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Look at our accomplishments and see for yourself!

Isn’t it time to retire inflammatory rhetoric?
