News Update: Young crash victims still in critical condition

Two young Nevada County teens severely injured in a March 14 crash near Lake Tahoe remain in critical condition.

Both Rochelle “Roxy” Weir-Ford, and her boyfriend-passenger, Daniel “Danny” Smith, are still at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno, according to hospital spokesman Dan Davis.

Weir-Ford and Smith, both 18, and 2009 Nevada Union High School graduates, are in the hospital’s intensive care unit, according to a Web site set up by their families. Although they remain critical, their medical situations are now stable, the Web site stated.

The pair suffered the injuries in a collision with a pickup truck at the intersection of Highway 28 and Highway 50 in the state of Nevada.
