Patriotic Poetry

Sandy Belch, of Nevada City, offered this original poem in honor of American service men and women who have maintained the nation’s independence:

For all the ones gone:

The ones who lived long lives

and left ready and tired

The ones who were snatched from us and left sad ones behind

The ones who fell for our

country and will always have ‘hero’ by their names

The ones who never had a chance to run and play

but wait for us in Heaven

We honor you today.
