Fender bender

No one was injured in a two-car collision Monday night, but both vehicles were towed from the scene after the 6:35 p.m. crash, according to Capt. Rex Marks of the Grass Valley Police Department. Patricia Pasteris, 78, of Grass Valley, was southbound on South Auburn Street at Mainhart Drive when Joy Garner, 18, pulled out of a driveway and into her path, Marks said. Garner was cited for unsafe entry onto a roadway.

Up in smoke

A man on Jones Ridge Road outside Nevada City told sheriff’s deputies the cannabis he was growing was for three others who had medical marijuana recommendations. He couldn’t produce the prescriptions, however, so narcotics officers seized 37 plants Tuesday. For details, see Page A3.
