n Time to clear out exhibits

Everyone who brought exhibits to the Nevada County Fair now needs to pick them up by 5 p.m. today. All exhibits have been moved to the Main Street Center at Gate 1. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

chief to step down

Craig Wilcox, the business development director for Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital, will step down effective Aug. 22, hospital spokeswoman Brett Bentley said Thursday. There is no word yet on who will fill the position or what steps the hospital is taking to find a replacement, Bentley added.

“We respect the decision of anyone who chooses to leave the organization. We appreciate his service to Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital and wish him well in his future endeavors,” hospital President and CEO Katherine A. Medeiros said.

Wilcox has been at the Grass Valley hospital nearly two years. Hospital leaders have been working to bring physicians into the community, and recently recruited a neurologist to head up the new stroke program.

Penn Valley

n Bull riding, mutton

busting this weekend

Contestants ages 3 and up can compete in mutton busting, calf, steer, pee-wee bull, junior and senior bull riding divisions starting at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Penn Valley Rodeo Arena. This is a regular event hosted by the Western Bull Riders Association. Admission is $5; children 6 and younger enter free. The arena is at 10513 Spenceville Road in Penn Valley.
