New scoutmaster named

Jim Richards of Nevada City has been named the new scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 4.

After serving as an assistant scoutmaster with the troop for some years, Richards took on the duties of scoutmaster on Jan. 1 upon the retirement of Dave Richards (they are not related).

Troop 4 was founded in 1922. It was chartered by the Grass Valley Host Lions Club in 1928.

Membership in the troop is open to boys aged 11 to 18. Meetings are at 7 p.m. Mondays at the Grass Valley Scout Lodge in Memorial Park, 415 Memorial Drive.
