New members named to BID

Four new board members were recently appointed to the Nevada City Business Improvement District.

They are Rita Fuenzalida (Java Johns), Julie Baker (Julie Baker Fine Art), Judi Weiner (Judi’s of Nevada City), Tina Basich (My Favorite Things) and new finance committee member, Eric Berliner (J. J. Jackson’s).

Committees have been working on specific projects that were identified and prioritized based on a survey of downtown business owners and comments from residents during town hall meetings last year. Projects underway include research for new benches, improved signage, and a marketing program to draw shopping to the downtown area.

Completed projects include the creation of the B.I.D. newsletter, “Open Door,” a communication vehicle to downtown business owners, “What’s Happening” posters which highlight and promote downtown events, and the “Windows on History” project – a photographic display highlighting historical buildings in Nevada City.

Merchants interested in volunteering for the B.I.D. projects can contact Pat Dyer of Utopian Stone at 265-6209, or e-mail for further information or questions.
