New high school superintendent to be announced

The new superintendent of the Nevada Joint Union High School District will be announced at a board meeting 6 p.m. today, according to the district’s board president.

“The superintendent process went well,” said NJUHSD Board President Katy Schwarz. “We will be announcing the new superintendent at the regular board meeting.”

The meeting will take place at the science lecture hall at Nevada Union High School at 11761 Ridge Road in Grass Valley.

Following the termination of former Superintendent Marianne Cartan’s contract on March 13, the board sought the assistance of the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools Office to facilitate the superintendent search and interview process. The district board provided online surveys and community input meetings in April, which were followed by the interviewing of five candidates June 18.
