On Wednesday, Nevada County conducted its 9th annual Poetry Out Loud! high school recitation competition at Nevada Union’s Science Lecture Hall. This year, five Nevada County schools competed — Bear River, Bitney Springs, Forest Charter, Ghidotti and Nevada Union.

Poetry Out Loud is a national poetry recitation program sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the California Arts Council. The national program, now in its 11th year, requires high school competitors to memorize two poems from the NEA’s anthology (www.poetryoutloud.org).
