Nevada County sergeant named officer of the year

Staff Sgt. Larry B. Ingersoll of Nevada County has been selected as Air Combat Command’s 2005 Outstanding Aircrew Life Support Non-Commissioned Officer of the year.

In a letter congratulating Ingersoll, Lt. Gen. William M. Fraser III wrote:

“You are a pivotal force within the 391 FS, aggressively extending yourself into every facet of operational readiness. As the manager of over $1.8 million worth of aircrew equipment and unit munitions, you have shown the tenacity and resolve to improve efficiency while supporting Operation NOBLE EAGLE and short notice POTUS support missions which are critical to our national defense.”

Ingersoll’s father, Larry Sr., manager at Placer Title Company in Grass Valley, expressed his excitement over his son’s honor.

“They had an awards dinner on Friday in Mountain Home, Idaho, which is my son’s base,” he said. “We were unable to get on a flight on Friday, so we flew to Idaho on Saturday morning and just celebrated the award with my son.”

In his letter, Fraser thanked Ingersoll “on behalf of the aviators,” for his efforts and wished him “continued success.”
