Nevada County Regional Chambers of Commerce at work

The Regional Chambers of Commerce have partnered with the City of Grass Valley, the Bear Yuba Land Trust, The Union and the Economic Resource Council, to submit an application to the Google Street View Camera Loan program. If selected, the camera will provide an incredible opportunity to film and share 360 experiences that tell panoramic stories about Nevada County. The project’s scope of work will involve filming hiking and biking trails, rivers and swimming holes, amazing views from mountain peaks, State Historic Parks, back country skiing, local farms and vineyards, and our historic downtowns.

The goals we hope the image collection will achieve are multi-faceted. The overarching objective is to attract visitors to the area, which will help enhance the local economy. The images will also make historically significant sites and beautiful, hard-to-get-to outdoor places more accessible to everyone, including people of all ages with limited mobility. A follow-up, robust and unified marketing strategy of the images will broaden exposure of Nevada County’s natural beauty, outdoor recreation and noteworthy Gold Rush era towns to world-wide audiences.

The project also has the potential to underscore the importance of continued preservation of local historic towns and sites, the area’s wealth of natural beauty and the Gold Rush Era stories that shaped early California history. By drawing attention to these iconic riches as a world community, we are better able to coalesce around respect for our past and thoughtful planning for our future.
