Nevada County narcotics detectives arrest man on drug, weapons charges
A San Jose man was arrested Tuesday after members of Nevada County Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force served a search warrant at his Jones Ridge Road residence and allegedly found about 50 pounds of marijuana hanging in a garage and shed.
The warrant was obtained after a report of a physical fight at the residence Friday night, said Sgt. Guy Selleck.
According to dispatch reports, deputies were called to the residence in the 17000 block at about 6:45 p.m. after a report of a woman yelling for help.
They found blood and numerous weapons near the front entrance and forced entry, the dispatch report said.
A large amount of marijuana allegedly was located at that time and a report was forwarded to the task force.
Brandon Reynolds Carskadon, 33, was alone at the residence when deputies arrived. A man identified as David Jose Swanson, 33, was spotted leaving the residence and was detained later on suspicion of being a parolee at large from Minnesota, Selleck said.
According to Selleck, text messages from Swanson’s phone connected him to the marijuana found at the residence, but he is not currently facing any local charges.
A search of the residence uncovered about 30 pounds of marijuana cola drying in the garage, and another 20 pounds drying in a detached shed, Selleck said.
About 125 immature plants allegedly were found in a
“make-shift” greenhouse of black plastic with artificial lighting,
as well as 30 mature plants outside.
Approximately 15 Ecstasy pills and 50 Vicodin pills were found in a bedroom, and a .45-caliber handgun was found buried under a pile of trash in the kitchen, Selleck said.
Deputies also allegedly found a lab for manufacturing honey oil.
“He did have multiple current recommendations, but he admitted to selling marijuana for profit,” Selleck said. “He also admitted to manufacturing honey oil for profit.”
Carskadon was arrested on suspicion of possessing narcotics, possessing controlled substances, manufacturing of a controlled substance and possession of a dangerous weapon.
He was being held in county jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
