Nevada County League of Women Voters issues election reminder

Nevada County is on track to achieve the highest voter turnout in the state of California in the 2016 election cycle. The Nevada County Elections Office, local media, Chambers of Commerce, businesses, non-profit organizations, faith community, service organizations, schools, community groups, and political organizations came together to support the Get Out the Vote campaign of the local League of Women Voters in efforts to register over 4,000 new voters.

Local business partners, including The Union, YubaNet.com, Greater Nevada County Chamber of Commerce and the Truckee Chamber of Commerce, Mother Truckers on the San Juan Ridge, Natural Selection, Kitkitdizzi, Foggy Mountain Music, BriarPatch, Matteo’s Public, California Organics, K-Mart, Holiday Market, SPD, Tribal Weaver, Golden Era and Los Mineros provided special voter registration opportunities and support.

Los Mineros, on the boardwalk in Nevada City, is one business that is offering a token of appreciation to voters on election day — a free basket of chips and salsa will be provided to anyone sporting an “I Voted” sticker today. You are encouraged to visit the League of Women Voters of Western Nevada County Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/lwvwnc/ to receive additional updates on businesses offering tokens of appreciation for casting your ballot on election day.

All polling places are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m.
