Nevada County fire: Blaze engulfs home off McCourtney Road

Firefighters on Saturday battled a fully engulfed building off McCourtney Road, taking about an hour to bring the blaze under control, authorities said.

No one was injured in the fire that erupted around 1:40 p.m.

Several agencies responded to multiple calls about the fire, finding downed power lines at the scene but no clear indication of the fire’s cause.

“It was fully involved when they arrived on scene,” said Kayla Burke, communications operator.

Firefighters found the home as well as a 50-by-50 foot spot of vegetation on fire. They contained the blaze by 2:32 p.m. and remained on the scene until after 6 p.m., Burke added.
