Nevada County Book Swap seeks new home

The next Nevada County Book Swap is set for April 7, but its location is still unknown.

Now that the free book swap’s former location, an old warehouse located at 139 Joerschke Drive, is no longer available for use, organizers are seeking a new home.

The book swap founder, Cheryl Noble, is searching for a new permanent place to hold the swap once a month.

She hopes to avoid having to pack up all of the supplies after each swap, so a building that allows her to store the tables, books and other materials would be ideal, Noble said. Since the book swap program is free of charge to the participants, Noble is searching for a donated location.

In addition, a wheelchair accessible place with plenty of parking and a restroom is exactly what the book swap needs, she said.

The swap has been offered the first Sunday of every month for four years. Up to 100 people come to swap books each month, Noble said.

The participants love the social element and enjoy sharing their love of books with friends, neighbors, kids and grandchildren, she added.

The swap is not only for adults. People of all ages are welcome, even kids.

“One of our largest categories is children’s books,” Noble said.
