Nevada County blotter: Homeless man grabs 8-foot steel pole, chases people

Friday

9:10 a.m. — A caller at Ivey Lane and Highway 49 reported mail theft.



9:21 a.m. — A caller in the 11000 block of Tammy Way reported that a gun was stolen during a house burglary.

10:39 a.m. — A caller in the 16000 block of Shoshoni Trail Court reported a check stolen from her mailbox. Someone tried to cash the check.




11:54 a.m. — A caller in the 12000 block of Woodpecker Point reported that a large bear “tore up” her vehicle overnight.

1:49 p.m. — A caller in the 14000 block of Woodland Loop reported that he brought a homeless, pregnant woman to his house last month and that she now refuses to leave.

4:55 p.m. — A caller in the 10000 block of Rough and Ready Highway reported that her son had been assaulted at an after-school program. A school incident report was made and the incident recorded.

5:42 p.m. — A caller in the 200 block of Willow Valley Road reported that her brother had broken a window on her home and was trying to enter her residence.

10:51 p.m. — A woman in the 19000 block of McCourtney Road reported that her son and his friend attacked her husband. At some point the son choked his mother while the friend choked the father.

Saturday

1:10 p.m. — A caller in the 10000 block of Alta Sierra Road reported that a vehicle collided with his mailbox and then left the scene.

2:17 p.m. — Dispatchers reported an out-of-control suspect throwing items in the 300 block of Broad Street.

7:10 p.m. — A caller in the 10000 block of Wild Turkey Lane reported a man shooting toward the caller’s home. At least five shots were heard.

Friday

7:35 a.m. — A caller in the 100 block of Florence Avenue reported two men on a front porch shooting up drugs.

9:08 a.m. — A caller in the 300 block of Main Street reported that his landlord went into the caller’s home and threw away his belongings.

11:04 a.m. — A caller in the 1000 block of Sutton Way reported a man in a parking lot yelling at children.

12:12 p.m. — A caller in the 2000 block of Nevada City Highway reported that a homeless man had taken an 8-foot steel pole and was chasing people with it.

3:53 p.m. — A caller in the 200 block of South Pine Street reported a suspicious man defecating behind a building. The man already had urinated on a vehicle. He then began walking along the building’s side, making people nervous.

5:16 p.m. — A caller in the 800 block of Sutton Way reported a man loitering in front of the store throughout the day and harassing customers.

5:38 p.m. — A caller at Brunswick Road and Sutton Way reported someone holding a Trump sign that was too big and blocked her view of traffic.

8:29 p.m. — A caller in the 700 block of Sutton Way reported a customer threatening staff at a pharmacy. Another caller reported that the customer was yelling and screaming and refused to leave.

10:42 p.m. — A caller in the 200 block of Sutton Way reported a vehicle that collided with a brick wall. Additionally, a fire hydrant was broken.

Saturday

8:43 p.m. — A caller in the 1900 block of Nevada City Highway reported a homeless person standing near the road and screaming at traffic.
