Nevada City Schools extend application deadline for board vacancy

The Nevada City School District’s Board of Trustees has extended the deadline for applicants to submit paperwork for its recent board vacancy, seeking candidates to replace Amy Wiser, board of trustee, who resigned effective Sept. 12.

The Board must appoint a trustee to serve the remainder of Wiser’s term until the next general election for the seat, which will be held in November, 2014.

Applicants must be registered voters residing in the Nevada City School District. Superintendent Roxanne Brown Gilpatric said interested citizens should contact the District Office at 800 Hoover Lane, Nevada City, for an application which must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3. Applicants should be aware that their letter and application will be part of a public agenda.

The Nevada City School District Board of Trustees will interview applicants at the regular Board Meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 9. Following deliberations, the Board will announce the selection of a new Board Member who will be asked to stay for the remainder of the meeting.
