Nevada City Rotary to host Adventures & Wine Auction Sept. 19

The 2014 Adventures & Wine Auction to benefit the Nevada City Rotary Club Youth Programs and Scholarship Fund will be held from 5:30-9 p.m. on Sept. 19.

The silent and live auctions will feature art, personal and professional services, household goods, romantic getaway trips and unforgettable experiences donated by members of the Nevada City Rotary Club and the local business community.

The theme is “Focus on Youth.” The Drew Reynolds Scholarship is awarded each year to a young parent attending Sierra College and is renewable for up to four years.

Past recipients have gone on to complete undergraduate and graduate degrees. The 2004 recipient completed an MBA; the 2006 recipient has completed a master’s program in statistics at Harvard. Other renewable scholarships are awarded to graduating seniors who are enrolling in college or vocational programs.

Each year, Nevada City Rotary sponsors incoming high school seniors to a week-long Rotary Youth Leadership Camp (RYLA) and eighth-graders at Rotary Eighth Grade Leadership Experience (REGL). One RYLA student this year wrote, “It has been an experience that will make colossal waves in my life instead of tiny ripples.”

This year’s gala will be held at Miners Foundry in Nevada City. Enjoy music and dancing with Dream & the Dreamer.

Tickets are $12 in advance and $20 at the door. Ticket price includes dessert, wine from many of Nevada County wineries, a no-host bar, raffles and the live and silent auctions. Food will be available for purchase.

Auctioneer Jay Cooper will keep the event moving.

Tickets available at Harmony Books, The Bookseller, Briar Patch or from Nevada City Rotarians.
