NCPD gets onslaught of applications, starts interviews for grant-funded jobs

After receiving 95 applications for a single grant-funded clerical job, the Nevada City Police Department is interviewing 14 finalists for the job next week.

The records supervisor was one of three positions funded by a two-year, $510,090 federal stimulus grant awarded in the fall.

Nevada City Police Chief Lou Trovato said the two available police officer positions attracted about 10 applications. The pool is down to two candidates, who will likely be on the job by March if they successfully pass background checks, Trovato said.
