Native plant sale, festival set for Oct. 10

A native plant sale and festival will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 10 in Grass Valley.

The event, sponsored by the Redbud Chapter of the California Native Plant Society, will be at North Star House parking lot, next to the farmers market, 12183 Auburn Road.

CNPS members will have a preview time from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

Members will also be on hand to give free gardening advice.

In addition, the event will feature books by local authors, California native plant posters, T-shirts and refreshments.

The recently published “Trees and Shrubs of Nevada and Placer Counties,” written by Redbud Chapter members, will be on sale at the book tables.

The Redbud Chapter of CNPS sponsors nature education programs at Grass Valley Charter School, Yuba River Charter School, and Placer Nature Center.

Students will share their projects at the plant sale.

For more information, contact Cyndi Brinkhurst, plant sale coordinator and secretary of the Redbud Chapter CNPS at secretary@redbud-cnps.org or 530 274-1924.
