MY TOP TEN: Dan Young, 57, Nevada City

When it rains, it pours. At least that’s what’s happened last week in Nevada County, when our long dry spell ended with a deluge. We asked Dan Young, a Nevada City home builder, to name the Top 10 things – good and bad – about the rain.

1. It’s been a long time since it rained, so I guess it’s a good thing.

2. Hell, we need the rain.

3. It’s refreshing.

4. I’m in construction, so it slows us down, so that’s a bad thing. But it gives me a few days off, so that’s a good thing.

5. It causes driving hazards, so that’s a bad thing.

6. Cuts down on fire hazard big-time, so that’s a real good thing.

7. It definitely cools it off.

8. Washes everything down, makes everything nice.

9. I don’t like the fog; I’m a summer person.

10. I don’t like wearing the rain gear.
