Mount St. Mary1s math contest will benefit research hospital

Mount St. Mary’s School will hold a Math-A-Thon to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The event will be Friday through Jan. 25 and is being coordinated by Stephen Tassone, eighth-grade teacher.

“Our goal in holding the Math-A-Thon is to help the children of the world who are stricken with diseases like cancer, AIDS and sickle cell anemia,” said Tassone. “We are asking that all citizens and businesses of Grass Valley support our students as they participate in the program.”

Donations can be made by calling the school at 273-4694.

The Math-A-Thon is sponsored by Six Flags Theme Parks, which provides free park passes to every student who raises $35 or more through the program.
