A 58-year-old Grass Valley man was airlifted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center after suffering major injuries in a crash on Nevada City Highway Wednesday morning, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Robert Minifie was listed in fair condition with a fractured left leg after being struck by a car as he rode his motorcycle eastbound on Nevada City Highway, officer George Kirbyson said.

Minifie was injured when a Ford Bronco driven by Adam Schilling, 17, of Grass Valley crossed Nevada City Highway from southbound Glenbrook Drive and struck Minifie’s 1987 Harley-Davidson, the officer said.

No other injuries were reported in the 10:05 a.m. incident that was witnessed by workers at Omega Home Loans. Witnesses said it appeared the Ford Bronco was coming from Glenbrook Drive onto a driveway that leads to Maltman Drive.

“The Bronco hit (Minifie) broadside,” Pamela Yazell said. “It was just a straight impact. … It almost looked like neither (driver) saw the other one.”

The driver of the Bronco was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, Kirbyson said. The CHP is still investigating, he added.
