Mostajo and Delgado to appear in court today

Laura Mostajo, a Grass Valley resident accused of taking money from the memorial fund of her former brother-in-law, will be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. today at the Nevada County Superior Court.

Mostajo is accused of taking money from a memorial fund she set up for Robby Johnston, her former brother-in-law who died in a car accident on Highway 20 in January. She pleaded not guilty to a charge of grand theft in April.

Mostajo is being represented by Tamara Zuromskis of the Public Defender’s Office. Deputy District Attorney Ken Tribby is prosecuting.

Santos Delgado, a North San Juan man who was arrested in May on suspicion of attempted murder and assaulting his son with a firearm, will also appear in court at 1:30 p.m. today.

Delgado has “pleaded no contest to a count of (being a) felon in possession of a firearm,” District Attorney Cliff Newell said. Delgado is being represented by Jody Schutz of the Public Defender’s Office.
