More rain possible for foothills

Western Nevada County may see more rain today and the higher elevations of the Sierra could get pounded by thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service in Sacramento issued a hazardous weather outlook this morning, saying isolated mountain thunderstorms could occur through Thursday.

Most of the activity is expected at the 5,000 feet level, above the foothills and drivers should be cautious.

A possible thunderstorm in the Truckee area today before 5 p.m. could bring gusting winds, hail and heavy rain. Showers are expected tonight at the higher elevations with thunderstorm possibilities diminishing as Wednesday and Thursday progress.

Foothill highs are expected in the mid-60s, with lows in the mid-40s through Thursday. Western Nevada County highs are expected to climb back into the 70s for the weekend, with lows in the upper 30s, with mostly sunny to partly sunny skies.
