Meeting today on fish restoration effort

The Upper Yuba River Studies Program, an effort to restore salmon and steelhead trout above Englebright Dam, will hold a meeting today at Miners Foundry in Nevada City.

The program’s work group will discuss recommendations made by a team of scientists who in September evaluated the program, which is part of Calfed, the Bay Delta restoration effort.

Terry Mills, the Calfed official in charge of the Upper Yuba River Studies Program, will give an update on the effort to hire consultants to do $6.7 million worth of fish restoration feasibility studies.

Those consultants should be hired sometime in February, Mills said.

Public comment will be heard from 12:15 to 12: 45 p.m. Miners Foundry is at 325 Spring St.
