Meeting to discuss dam re-licensing to be held Thursday

A Sierra Club expert will talk about dam re-licensing on the Bear and Yuba river watersheds Thursday.

Allan Eberhart will discuss renewal of licenses through the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for dams in the watershed, including those operated by the Nevada Irrigation District. He’ll also discuss as a proposed dam on the Bear River at Garden Bar.

His talk is at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, at the NID Annex, 1036 W. Main St., Grass Valley. It is the first in a series of public meetings hosted by the Wolf Creek Community Alliance.

Eberhart has expertise in the Bear River watershed and has written about watershed issues for the Sierra Foothill Network as the Sierra Club chairman.
