Meeting to address downtown’s future

The public is invited to bring fresh ideas Wednesday to a meeting addressing the future of business in downtown Nevada City.

The meeting, titled Cooperating for the Betterment of Nevada City, will be held Wednesday at Nevada City’s City Hall.

All participants will be asked to list what they think are the three most pressing issues facing the downtown and solutions to remedy them.

“This is about all of us working toward the common good of downtown,” Nevada City Vice Mayor Sally Harris said.

A social with coffee, tea and rolls will start at 7:45 a.m. At 8:10 a.m., Harris will give an introduction followed by presentations, updates and question-and-answer periods.

Items discussed will include parking, the town’s community service officer, an assessment of the Business Improvement District and updates on flags and benches and other projects. The Nevada City Chamber of Commerce will discuss by-law changes and the city and county’s marketing projects.

Ideas on issues and solutions will be shared from 8:50 to 9:30 a.m.

The event is sponsored by Nevada City Economic Enhancement Team, and Harris will moderate. This is a quarterly meeting of the City of Nevada City, the BID and the chamber.
