Measure A, building repairs on Penn Valley fire agenda

Eagle Scout candidate Brock Peterlin wants to make repairs to a building on the rodeo grounds owned by the Penn Valley Fire Protection District.

Directors will meet to hear Peterlin and consider other matters – including a tax for emergency response – at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, at Station No. 43, 10513 Spenceville Road, Penn Valley.

Measure A – an ordinance establishing fees for cost recovery of emergency response to nonresidents of the district – will have its first reading. The proposed ordinance also will clarify stand-by fees.

Directors also will discuss potential plans to deal with the significant budget deficit if Measure A fails to gain the two-thirds vote necessary for approval. Potential firefighter layoffs and temporary closings of fire stations will be discussed.
