Marijuana bust nets two

Two people were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of cultivating marijuana and other charges, the Nevada County Sheriff’s Narcotics Task Force reported.

Jeffrey Lee Goodin, 39, and April Dawn Walker, 32, were arrested at a home in the 20000 block of Pleasant Valley Road near North San Juan after deputies found the pair in the home with 60 marijuana plants, guns and paraphernalia, some of which was found within easy access of the couple’s 10-month-old son.

Sgt. Bill Smethers said deputies were in the area when they saw the plants growing outside the home.

Goodin was arrested on suspicion of possessing marijuana, of growing and cultivating marijuana, being armed with a firearm, and attempting to destroy evidence.

Walker was arrested on suspicion of planting and cultivating marijuana.

Walker bailed out of custody, and Goodin remains in custody at Wayne Brown Correctional Facility.
