Mardi Gras royalty announced

Gerry and Denise Anderson will be crowned king and queen of the 2010 Nevada City Mardi Gras Celebration.

The longtime Chamber of Commerce boosters will join duke and duchess Ray and Linda Pulizzi as the event’s royal court.

Royalty will be featured with Grand Marshal Bob Breck of KNCO Radio at the Nevada City Mardi Gras Parade, set for Sunday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m. along Broad Street.

The Andersons take the honor after nearly 20 years of enthusiastic volunteer work for the chamber, said Chamber of Commerce Executive Manager Cathy Whittlesey. Denise Anderson served as the organization’s treasurer for 17 years, while Gerry Anderson helps with special event organization and construction projects.

The Pulizzis are members of the Boozefighters Motorcycle Club, which is one of the event’s key supporters.

Mardi Gras kicks off with the annual Masquerade Ball on Feb. 13, at the Miners Foundry, featuring the Holcomb Brothers Band. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door and are available by contacting the chamber at (530) 265-2692.
