Marching through Washington

History buffs re-enact the patrol of the “Sacramento Rangers,” riding their horses from the Skillman Flat campground on Highway 20 into the town of Washington and back on Saturday. The group then spent the night at the campground. From 1861 to 1866, Com-pany F, 2nd California Cavalry, patrolled the area around the town to keep the peace between Native Americans and Gold Rush miners.
