Man tries to pick up girl in latest attempt

At 8:03 p.m. Tuesday, a woman on the 23700 block of Maple Court reported that her 11-year-old daughter was approached by a man in a car after she got off a school bus earlier in the day.

The man reportedly asked her if she wanted a ride home. After she said no, he reportedly drove back to the bus stop. The man was reportedly in his late 50s, with salt-and-pepper hair and a goatee. The car was described as an older white sedan with a broken side view mirror.

The Sheriff’s Office was unsure if there was any connection to the event and a botched abduction March 24 at Lyman Gilmore Middle School in Grass Valley. In that case, two men tried to grab a 9-year-old girl from a bench in front of the school but were thwarted when she ran into a classroom.

Sheriff’s officials said they are still trying to identify the two suspects, and no arrests have been made. The men were in a faded green Chevrolet, both were white, and one had a tattoo of a clown with blood dripping down its face on his upper right arm. The other man was 6 feet tall and had a mole under his nose.
