Man injured in 49 rollover

A North San Juan man was seriously injured Friday afternoon when he rolled his truck off of Highway 49 near Sweetland.

Anthony Eric Stewart, 55, sustained major injuries in the single-vehicle accident reported at 12:49 p.m. Friday.

Stewart was transported by helicopter to Sutter Roseville Medical Center. Doctors had not yet determined his condition Friday evening, hospital spokeswoman Robin Montgomery said.

A witness told California Highway Patrol investigators that Stewart had been driving erratically before he rolled his black 1965 Ford pickup, CHP Officer Randy Corbett said.

Stewart had not been wearing his seat belt. It has not been determined whether alcohol was a factor in the accident, Corbett said.

It was not raining at the time of the accident, he added.
